1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading or using Heritage Vault (the "App") you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the App.
2. What the App is
Heritage Vault is a catalogue for personal collections. It lets you record items across categories, add photographs, keep a valuation history, record insurance cover and provenance, name beneficiaries, and generate and print documents from what you have recorded.
The App runs on your device. There is no account, no registration and no service of ours that you log in to.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, and old enough under the law where you live to agree to these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the App for cataloguing collections you own or are responsible for, and for producing documentation from those records.
You may not use the App to:
- record or document items you know to be stolen, counterfeit or illegally held
- produce documents you know to be inaccurate, in order to mislead an insurer, a buyer, a court or a tax authority
- break any law applying to the items you record or the documents you produce
5. Your content
Everything you enter belongs to you. We claim no ownership of your collection records, photographs or documents, and we have no access to them.
6. Documents the App generates
The App generates appraisal documents, catalogues, condition reports, estate inventories and printouts from the information you enter.
- These are not professional appraisals and carry no independent authority. A valuation is only as good as its source, which is why the App records the source against every valuation and labels it accordingly.
- The Estate Inventory Report is a record for an executor. It is not a will and not a legal instrument, and does not replace either.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for how you use the documents produced. Misrepresenting value or provenance to an insurer or in a legal process may have serious consequences.
- Consult a qualified appraiser, insurer or lawyer where the matter warrants one.
7. Exchange rates
Where the App converts between currencies it uses European Central Bank reference rates, retrieved from a third-party service and cached on the device. These are indicative reference rates, not dealing rates, and may be out of date. The date and source are shown wherever converted totals appear. Do not rely on them for a transaction.
8. Your data and your backups
You are responsible for keeping your own backups. The App provides local backups, export to CSV and JSON, and optional iCloud sync — use them.
We cannot recover your data: we do not have it. Loss of your device, deletion of the App, or loss of access to your Apple Account may mean loss of your collection records if you have not kept a backup.
9. Availability
The App is provided as-is. We do not guarantee it will be free of defects, nor that any particular feature will be maintained in future versions.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF A CLAIM, OR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON A VALUATION, CONVERSION OR DOCUMENT PRODUCED BY THE APP.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Third-party services
The App uses:
- Apple CloudKit, if you enable iCloud sync, to store your collection in your own private iCloud database
- api.frankfurter.dev, to retrieve European Central Bank exchange rates
- iOS camera and photo library, when you add photographs
Your use of Apple's services is subject to Apple's terms.
12. Ending your use
Stop using the App at any time by deleting it, which removes its data from the device. If you enabled iCloud sync, remove its data from iCloud in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud.
13. Changes to the App and to these Terms
The App may change between versions, including the removal of features. Updated Terms will be published at https://heritagevault.thorden.se/terms and included in the next app update.
14. Local law
You are responsible for complying with the law where you live, including any rules on import, export, ownership, documentation or certification of the items you record.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE PUBLICATION].
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force.
17. Entire agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy together form the whole agreement between you and Heritage Vault regarding the App.
