A watch needs a movement and a reference number. A book needs an edition and a binding. Heritage Vault asks the questions that belong to the thing in front of you, instead of one flat form for everything.
Every valuation records where it came from and when. The app will not call your own estimate an appraised value — the label follows the source, so a document generated from your collection can be handed to an insurer without quiet exaggeration.
Record the insurer, policy number, covered amount and renewal date. When a valuation rises above the cover, the item is flagged as underinsured — on the item and in the insurance overview.
Previous owners, periods and how each piece changed hands, kept as an ordered chain. Attach the receipt, the certificate or the auction result as a PDF or photograph.
Name who should receive each piece, with a relationship and any instruction that matters. The Estate Inventory Report gathers it into one document your executor can read.
Loss adjusters, executors and probate lawyers do not install apps. Heritage Vault prints documents built for them.
One row per item with a total, column headers repeated on every page, and every page numbered. Search or filter first and the printout says so, so a partial stack can never pass as the whole collection.
A single sheet for each piece — photograph, values, provenance, insurance, beneficiary. Anything that will not fit is summarised as a count, never dropped in silence.
Everything on file for one item, over as many pages as it takes. Full valuation history, full provenance, every photograph. Nothing omitted.
Set a base currency for the collection and a currency per item. A watch bought at auction in Geneva stays in francs; the total still adds up, converted with European Central Bank reference rates, and the figure is dated and attributed wherever it appears.
When a rate is genuinely unavailable, the total says so and shows the amount separately. A number that admits what it could not convert is worth more than one that is quietly wrong.

A list of valuable objects and where they are kept is exactly the list you would least like to leak. Heritage Vault is built so there is nothing to leak.
There is no sign-up, no password and no server holding your collection. The app opens straight into your own data.
Your collection is stored with AES-256-GCM. The key lives in the device keychain and never leaves it.
iCloud sync is off until you turn it on, and copies to your own private iCloud database — not to us.
No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs watching what you catalogue.
Light and dark appearance, following the system. Dynamic Type throughout, so the whole catalogue grows with your Text Size setting rather than staying stubbornly small — which matters when the person documenting an estate is not twenty-five.
